3/3 She loved her job, but she felt the salary did not pay enough to meet her needs at that time. The black nurses received less pay than the white nurses. She worked there for two and a half years before handing in her resignation.
2/3 After graduating from Tuskegee, she worked at the Macon County Health Dept as a public health nurse who provided nurse-midwifery care. She did home visits, maternal health care, primary care, well childcare and instructed and supervised granny midwives.
Nettie B. Jones (November 30, 1904 -?) was a 1944 graduate of the Tuskegee School of Nurse-Midwifery. While Ms. Jones enjoyed her education at Tuskegee School of Nurse-Midwifery, it was a heavy workload. The classes were Monday to Friday with call on nights and weekends. 1/3 #BHM
