@liIpochaco You gotta be the force for positivity you wish and others will eventually change their ways too. I felt this all too much growing up and just decided to say fuck that! Be LOVING and be KIND and be HOPEFUL! The world is gonna catch up someday!
@ocxlotmeow Hi, below poverty line autistic system here, i have realized that i worded this poorly and have since apologized for it and was able to understand what i Meant to say and found a better way to word myself in the future, but thanks for telling me something i already know i guess?
@PartTimeTakeOvr Likewise!! Ive actually found more and more people to being receptive to communication without being disrespectful but its seems like not nearly enough :') Trying to be the change i want to see in the world i guess! /lh but /gen
I hope you have a great rest of your day/night!
@PartTimeTakeOvr okok Yeah that does make sense! thank you for explaining! i can Very much lack in certain social skills and communicating my thoughts but its not an excuse for any harm caused so i always really appreciate it when someone helps educate me on a way to be better, so thank you!
@PartTimeTakeOvr obvi i dont keep people like that around but it does happen often enough and if it happens to me it then it happens to others, and i wish others would stop making assumptions generally. its important to me to be able to word it in a way that isnt harmful to others /gen
tyia!!
@PartTimeTakeOvr also, do you know of a better way to word this specifically? My intention is never to make people feel bad or wrong for what they experience but it comes from fear of stigma- ignorant NT people irl that berate me for holding onto interests for "too long" or being "too" into them
@PartTimeTakeOvr@ArinNived@Leg0S0ck@ryuseibunny yeah thats understandable!! definitely was not my intention to come across that way, im not great at wording stuff but im trying to get better at it. Theres absolutely tons of different ways to experience hyperfixations & ways to be ND, i just want there to be more awareness !
@Leg0S0ck@ArinNived@ryuseibunny part of the point is that no one ever can/will know who is or isnt misusing the term but the best thing we can do is educate on what the term is/can be and help people make the distinctions themselves. im OK being wrong abt things sometimes, but youre being willfully obtuse so ✌️
@Leg0S0ck@ArinNived@ryuseibunny because that is quite literally the only point i was trying to make. i understand if i failed to make that point or i worded it weird or incorrectly but i wasnt being personal to anyone
@Leg0S0ck@ArinNived@ryuseibunny i didnt even say they weren't neurodivergent tho nor that the interest itself was wrong ??? i absolutely don't think i know everything, especially when it comes to other people and their own lived experiences?? are you saying that the general misuse of health terms isn't harmful?
@Leg0S0ck@ArinNived@ryuseibunny im not talking about the person mentioned btw, im more advocating that it is a problem that exists. ive never seen the OPs account and im not talking about them specifically, just the fact that it Can cause harm. but yeah i dont think i worded it great so im sorry abt that /gen
@ArinNived@Leg0S0ck@ryuseibunny its so we dont spread the stigma that already exists
People that claim having hyperfixations, but really dont, gives anyone who sees this (who isnt ND) a picture that says hyperfixations can be short lasting and generally flexible, which can/does cause real harm irl to other NDs
@ArinNived@Leg0S0ck@ryuseibunny because having an interest isnt the same as having a hyperfixation. obviously people can change interests however often they want, and thats fine. the problem is when someone claims to have "a hyperfixation" when really they just like it a lot and want to pair it with being ND
