This is deeply tied to financial capacity. When you’re focused on meeting basic needs, all these “extras” feel like a luxury, not a priority. Point is, a lot of this isn’t in your hands, and for most of these things, if you don’t get into it as a child, you never find the time as an adult.
It’s sad that during your formative years, your exposure to the world is largely limited by your parent’s own exposure. If they value things like music lessons, spelling bees, sports, or exploring random hobbies, you benefit from that. If not, it’s just chores and TV for you.
