Leukoplakia Vs Oral lichen planus

leukoplakia and lichen planus (LP)
Points we should remember to differentiate Leukoplakia and oral lichen planus...
*Leukoplakia:-*
1. Patient is ignorant type ( casual approach)
2.Most common in male
3.Tobacco habit / tobacco stains over teeth
4.unilateral in appearance (only one side of oral cavity)
5. No symptoms like burning sensation
6. No erythematous halo ( no reddish patches, erythroplakia)
7. No post inflammatory pigmentation ( blackened mucosa)
8.Typical Crack mud appearance
9. Non scrappable lesion
*Oral lichen planus:-*
1.Patients are most of the time stressful and cancerphobic.(Concerned patient)
2.Most commonly occurs in female.
3.bilateral in appearance (Usually present on both sides of inner cheek)
4.Burning sensation during eating hot n spicy food
5. White and Black lace like striae ( Wickham's striae) present
6. Erythematous halo( redness) surrounding the white lesion
7. Post inflammatory pigmentation (blackened mucosa) can be seen.
8.Gum/ gingival involvement can also be seen in form of Desquamative gingivitis.
9. Tobacco stains over teeth may or may not be present
