Because they’re thick. It’s just like when a company hound someone out of their job - usually because they’re very competent and don’t suffer stupidity, gladly - when the company is taken to tribunal for unfair/constructive dismissal, they then coach 4 or 5 remaining employees to write witness statements about how the fired employee is a complete wrong-un. They “coach” them so damned hard that they all use the same wording and phrases in their statements. Anyone with any sense immediately sees through this, as you have. As I have. As almost everyone has.
