While I hate to see the armies of Europe in our beloved Paris, all things have consequences. Napoleon has done some great things, both good and bad. This is the final repercussion of the bad #frOSU18
As I leave France, I hope I am remembered for trying to bring equality, liberty, and brotherhood to this nation and not what the revolution and Empire have left in their wake #frOSU18
#frOSU18#Blaufarb You know Napoleon made a huge impact on the world when, years after his exile to St. Helena, there exists a fear he will escape again.
#frOSU18 At the end of the day France has ended up with a Bourbon king again. With the restoration of Louis XVIII, I must now live in exile in Belgium. Farewell.
Napoleon’s costly escapade in Russia has not only cost the nation far too much money, but the death toll is immense and certainly doesn’t make citizens of French territories want to join the French military or the Revolution #frOSU18
@JeanSylvain1736 While a good idea in concept, one must recognize it is beginning to do more harm than good and a different solution must be found #frOSU18
#frOSU18#Mason Napoleon's "The French Civil Code" is a very interesting piece. I congratulate Napoleon on finally accomplishing the task of creating a unified system of law...he is harsh though to women...
#frOSU18 After all of these successes Napoleon has gone in done it! If only he wasn't so sure of the Continental System we could of avoid this travesty! I only hope France can recover from this costly war!
#frOSU18 I am becoming increasingly alarmed by Napoleon's Continental System. He seems to smug to realized that his system is killing France more than it is Britain!
@BertrandBarere9 #frOSU18 It seems that we have been revolving in a circle this whole time. We started with a king, moved to more and more representation and involvement by the people, then circled back removing the directory and the Three Councils to reach the same position we started.
#frOSU18 Unfortunately, Bonaparte has taken upon himself to remove not only the Directory, but also now the power of two of the Three Councils of the French Republic...we seem to have regressed rather than progressed...
So instead it will be a “temporary president” with two “nominal counsels” who only have consultive power? Sounds a lot like something that used to govern France, where there was a guy who had advisors but could overrule them... #frOSU18
My proposal for a new constitution has been seemingly dismissed, mostly by the efforts of General Buonoparte! While he has been a great general and military leader for our nation, please leave the government to those who have experience in this field #frOSU18#Blaufarb
#frOSU18 With the acts of oppression against the people and the principles and rights they fought for is disturbing...I can only hope the revolution does not undo what we have worked so hard for due to fear of that very scenario.
#frOSU18#Reis The oppression of the people in the countryside in order to created "Liberated" cities and of some popular leaders by Committee of Public Safety and other committees has sparked outraged...it will be interesting to see what happens to the Revolution now...
#frOSU18 I cannot believe that some of the head figures of the Revolution (i.e. Danton) have now been swallowed by the Revolution and now face the same fate many before them have.
The Convention was formed to govern France and advance the revolution, not to bring terror to its citizens. Robespierre, while I appreciate your aggressive approach, I urge you to rethink your approach on terror and virtue before you kill any more citoyens #mason#frOSU18
@realKingLouis16 Robespierre clearly has not learned from the fall of the great Feuillants and Girondins. His radicalism will surely get him executed, especially if he keeps persecuting leaders of the revolution such as Danton #frOSU18
