quickdarshan is also my Bluesky account. I’ve been there more than here lately and hopefully more of the sports writers I follow will eventually migrate as well.
They made up lies about ordinary people who've done nothing wrong (Haitian immigrants, a black woman and her mother working the polls). They got people to fear and hate them to the point they received bomb and death threats. And they paid no price politically.
What I said below plus Covid were the main factors imo. Every post-Covid administration globally has lost. Even Modi lost ground in India.

@MrGlinis The Center for Japanese Studies does a film series every Winter. My friend Yuki (I think you met) did a series of horror films last year. Lot of great stuff I hadn't heard of before (Door, Kasane, Jigoku).
When people talk about "the media" I assume they mean cable news, NYTimes and the Washington Post. With cable subscribers dwindling and mass unsubscribing of the Washington Post, we're at a tipping point. The right left those long ago. And now they're losing the rest.
New Blocking Breakdown from CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND.
This one is nothing flashy in terms of camera movement. One dolly back and some pans and tilts to follow the movement. But the actor blocking is really exceptional. The actors move naturally through the frame into shifting compositions which mark shifting dynamics and allegiances between the three... and later four characters. It feels chaotic and domestic, but it's shockingly elegant. (I run through it a second time with longer pauses on each composition. I know there are a lot of annotations to take in.
