@ThinkingDM Also no Legendary Actions, nor a 9th level spell.
Granted, all those reactions probably equal or exceed the missing LAs (unless a well placed Shocking Grasp connects), but when the other archlich we have stats for gets 2 9th level slots, it feels oddly absent for Vecna
@KeithAmmann Woohoo! Missed the original announcement that this was updating again, so happy I saw this one.
Your tactics articles have really helped elevate my games over the past couple years. Looking forward to what creatures and lore you tackle next that I can throw at my players :)
@FinnTheBinn@EvilCleverDog Unless it's a Tomb of Horrors situation where the Lich King wants as many adventurers as possible to enter so he can steal their souls.
In which case it's also 100% in the Lich King's purview to add accessibility to the dungeon so he gets even more adventurer souls!
@dscarron @SakiStormi @n_quests@JordanTheTechie @ArtistDuality Tried theorycrafting that with a fellow DM once..
BA still doesn't totally fix it since the spell says it happens on your next turn. So you still have to hold concentration on that spell for everyone else's turns before it works for a single attack.
@Iron_Throm Afraid I moved in 2020, so I am not privy to any further upcoming adventures.
I have to wait and see what Puffin comes out with like everyone else now π
@SOGamingYT@PuffinForest Level 1's are very squishy. Be generous with rests, make sure they have access to healing of some kind, and reward shenanigans.
For prep, I actually listened to the first few episodes of The Adventure Zone to get a feel for how people could approach things and make it their own
@DrBryanC That's probably a good session 0 question to talk to your players about. They may like the brutal nature of dying if their character drops to 0, but they might also be nervous about possibly losing their character that easily.
@DrBryanC I brought them back after complete death.
Garo got killed I believe after a failed roll and an enemy attacking him.
Gouda though was more of a cinematic death after the party TPK'd and she refused to make a deal with the hags.
@DrBryanC Well then they are in for one hell of a time π
Gouda was 100% oblivious for the entire campaign. He promised to bring her back and help with her chaotic nature and that was more than enough to get her on-board
@DrBryanC Never really came up. All of my players had played D&D longer than I had, so (un)fortunately meta knowledge of the basics of hags and lycanthropes was kind of unavoidable. They all played true to character though, so that knowledge never actually interfered with their decisions.
@DrBryanC Yeah, I didn't modify the map itself, but I customized the gifts as detailed in my reddit post and had it where you could only get the gift of the dark power that's been tempting you all game.
Or potentially one tempting another PC if they denied their gift. But you only get one
