@wiredwoman@alexbierk 1.2% of the 7.8% is for capital financing. Could bring that down? Sure, but we gotta choose which big capital projects to keep deferring.

If I could make one little change to the local media landscape, it would be for outlets to stop running these OLG marketing press releases about people winning the lottery.
Or, at the very least, to run an equal amount of articles about people losing their savings to gambling.

It's time for my annual check-in on the Crawford Trail! To me, this is a no-brainer priority for improving transportation in Peterborough.
Anyway, no surprises here, but it ain't in the 2025 budget. Fingers crossed for 2026!
Every budget, the first thing I turn to is the Crawford Trail project. This trail would run from Lansdowne to downtown along an old rail path. In 2019, two blocks (Lake to Romaine) were built. Then the $$$ ran out. ๐งต

Premier Doug Ford said that his government "never cut" funding to @KHChildrensAid when asked about the agency's deficit on Tuesday.
The agency's financial statements show decreasing annual funding from the province, plus some one-time boosts.

There was a lot of talk on social media about illegal salmon fishing on the Ganaraska River in Port Hope this fall. The province responded with a ban, but is it really in the best interest of the fish?
