@RedheadGenealog I'd say a low chance if there aren't any other indicators from their previous generations, but not a 0% chance.

@RedheadGenealog In some cases they might be recorded in the Lutheran records even if Catholic, as the BMD records were pretty much the church records.

My 2nd GGF got line 26 of the 1950 survey, which means I won the genealogy lottery for this record.

So I've seen his house, his grave, his regimental flag, his pension record at @USNatArchives, and his name on the wall!

Last year my parents donated a guidon flag from my Aunt Marcia's family in the civil war to @SSMHnM.

Today we got to see it in the display! (61st regiment)

On the right side of the case is a regimental flag from the PA 102nd. My 3rd ggf, William Phillips, was in Company B.

@lissity Ancestry's 1950 census page has a state by state update you can check.

It took them 4 months to index the 1940 census.
