At 55 it starts. By 65 it's your legs. By 75 it's the stairs.
That's not just age. It's one signal in your body that stopped firing. Same steak, same eggs, same scoop of whey — the protein still goes in, the signal doesn't land.
Here's what that means:
... Una bella 'sorpresa' di Dio"
I would like to share some thoughts on my recent #ApostolicJourney to #France with the motto “That the world may have life” (cf. Jn 6:51). God alone, through his grace, can restore the Church and renew humanity, and this is precisely what is occurring in Paris, Lourdes and Metz.
How can you NOT believe in God when octopuses dream and otters have a favorite rock they carry around in a little skin pocket and cows have best friends and bees are out there communicating the coordinates of flowers through dancing and they have regional dialects?
Cats are purring at frequencies associated with bone healing? Forests get absolutely incinerated and respond by growing flowers? Dolphins literally invent names for themselves and yell them across the ocean? Penguins are waddling around Antarctica looking for the perfect rock to give their partner?
CROWS REMEMBER YOUR FACE. THEY TELL OTHER CROWS ABOUT YOU. THEY TELL THEIR CHILDREN ABOUT YOU. YOU CAN HAVE GENERATIONAL BEEF WITH A BIRD. I NEED YOU TO UNDERSTAND THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THIS.
Goats have accents. Rats laugh when you tickle them. Elephants mourn their dead. Whales make songs and then OTHER WHALES LEARN THE SONG and suddenly everybody across the ocean is singing the new song.
Monarch butterflies are born knowing how to fly thousands of miles to a place they have never been.
Sea turtles hatch out of an egg, immediately sprint toward an ocean that they have never seen, disappear into it for like 3 decades and then somehow come back to the same beach they hatched on.
Birds can see colors that we humans can’t see. There are colors out there right now that we don’t even get to know about.
There are sea slugs that eat algae and use the chloroplast/chlorophyll and then are just like…photosynthesizing. And they’re super adorable.
There are mushrooms communicating underground. There are seeds sitting in the dirt for decades like “no actually I will wait. It’s fine.”
Squirrels plant trees because they forget where they put their snacks. Relatable.
A CATERPILLAR GOES INTO A LITTLE BAG THAT IT CREATES ITSELF AND DISSOLVES MOST OF ITS BODY INTO ORGANIC GOO AND REARRANGES ITSELF, GROWS WINGS AND THEN LEAVES. WHY IS THIS NOT MORE BEAUTIFULLY TERRIFYING TO PEOPLE??
And you’re telling me a tiny acorn knows how to become a huge tree? It just has a blueprint inside itself?
Your body started as ONE CELL.
ONE.
And that cell divided itself into a brain that can think about its own existence and eyes that can look at stars and hands that can hold somebody else’s hands and a heart that runs on electricity without you even asking it to?
The iron in our blood was made inside a star??
We are walking around on a wet rock covered in bioluminescent oceans and singing whales and laughing rats and birds holding lifelong grudges and flowers exploding out of fire and somehow we’re supposed to act like this is a normal place to live?
We’re supposed to act like this is all just a random, accidental sequence of events?
Yesterday I saw a man who gave me hope.
A man with a spine. With courage. With loyalty to the Constitution. With professionalism, intelligence, integrity, & an almost old-fashioned respect for facts & the rule of law.
A man who said, "I will not be silenced."
Thank you sir.
Melania Trump is the mirror image of Donald Trump in every way that’s important-
superficial, hollow, unintelligent without an ounce of human empathy. She supports his war on immigrants; remember her comments that Obama didn’t have a birth certificate to prove he was American? All while speaking English like it’s her third language; unable to pronounce basic vocabulary. She could have hired the best tutors to help her, and clearly lied about having finished college.
She is every bit the gangster’s wife and no one should hesitate to tell the truth. She’s a public figure. A friend of Ghislaine Maxwell and Epstein, who ran one of the biggest child trafficking rings in the world.
So Jo, lots of people got your back; we support you because you’re brave and tell the truth.
You need lawyers we’ll go fund the shit out of it. Keep writing and keep talking.❤️
I have stared at this photograph more times than I can count over the past few days. Every time, I look at the man in the white cassock and say, with gut instinct and intellectual certainty both, Tu es Petrus.
You are Peter, and upon this rock Christ builds the Church.
Catholics believe the pope is the vicar of Christ, the Successor of Peter who acts and ministers in Jesus’s name.
With every passing day, this 71-year-old American, born Robert Francis Prevost, reminds me of Jesus. Then again, I guess that’s the point.
Gracias
This is a beautiful video of the Responsorial Psalm at Pope Leo XIV’s Mass at Metz Cathedral this afternoon. This is how I like the Responsorial Psalm rendered: clearly, solemnly and prayerfully.
The Responsorial Psalm is not meant to be a performance or simply a “vibe,” as we sometimes have it these days. It is a prayerful meditation on the First Reading. The choice of tone and manner of singing should draw the congregation into reflection, not distraction, so that the Word of God can truly sink into our hearts.
You tell from the expressions on the faces of the the faithful and even Pope Leo himself that they truly liked the psalm.
As the saying goes, “To sing well is to pray twice.” The choir and cantors at Mass are not there to entertain the faithful; they are there to help the faithful pray better through sacred music.
Pope at Mass in Metz: “…it is not true that those who seek revenge are stronger than those who forgive. It is not true that those who refuse to yield are stronger than those who seek reconciliation. It is not true that those who walk away are stronger than those who face the challenge of walking together.”
This viral video claiming a $140m corruption case in the Ukrainian military is false and likely a new creation of the long-running Russian disinformation operation known as Storm-1516.
Although the fake video has the logo of a genuine Ukrainian news website called the New Voice of Ukraine, it is in fact a fabricated report that was never produced by the Ukrainian outlet.
To make this fake story even more believable, the operation has also created a fake web page made to look like the real website of the New Voice Ukraine, featuring the fabricated report (first screenshot).
On its genuine website, the New Voice of Ukraine has clarified that it never produced this $140m corruption report, and that the web page carrying its logo is entirely fake (second screenshot).
