The wildest part of this by not having conversation about what exactly is wrong or their struggles (or diagnoses…) it reaffirms and strengthens the stigma rather than fighting the stigma
I'm seeing a trend in trainees/newer therapists:
A reluctance to directly discuss w patient what exactly is wrong & what kind of help they’re looking for
This is rationalized as not wanting to shame or “pathologize"
How you gonna help if you can’t speak about what’s wrong? 🤔
Know an undergrad who wants $ to do research over the summer? Know a faculty who wants $ to supervise?

@GabriellePfund My experience on a search committee (and when I was applying): 1-if it doesn’t have a limit you should make it as long as needed to showcase your qualifications, 2- brevity isn’t better but clear and concise is.
Page limits are usually to prevent superfluous writing. Avoid it

I think it's uncontroversial to say that brief experiences & interactions can cause harm.
So, it always surprises me when folks are *so confident* —despite the science!—that brief experiences & interactions (as in single-session interventions) cannot meaningfully help.
