Han pasado más de once meses de un año que te enseñó que las cosas no siempre salen como esperas. Un año en el que lloraste, te rompiste y aun así encontraste la fuerza para seguir. Lo estás haciendo tan bien como puedes. Sé suave contigo, honra tu camino y respeta tu proceso. Sigue adelante con fe, paciencia y mucho amor propio.

THE BEST 6.5 MINS OF @Grimezsz COACHELLA WEEKEND 2 SET
This isn’t my usual content but I could write essays on this person and I care about her as an artist in general.
I’ve watched Grimes grow and develop her musical style for probably over half of my life. This two weekend series at Coachella was her first live performance for a larger crowd in a while. It’s obvious that the set finally had its moment and she felt comfortable when she started remixing We Appreciate Power. I think when she plays her own music you can physically see her change on stage. She’s familiar with it and it’s her own art.
Leg up on the decks is literally how I imagine she sits when she’s making music. Anyone who’s followed her over her career knows she creates her own beats and sounds and has clearly mastered production on her own voice, a feat that is extremely hard to do when it comes to creating and then establishing your own unique voice in the industry.
She has received so much flack over her entire career, more specifically from the live performance production side, and has always been a pioneer, for women specifically (even if by accident), in the industry when it comes to setting up equipment, actually live producing on stage, etc. There are tons of articles where she expresses her frustrations of not being allowed to “touch equipment” over the course of her entire career despite having done countless live shows.
The way she reacts to small mess ups she makes also feels completely raw and real. I think it’s refreshing to see the actual artist on stage performing and having real reactions instead of seeing a fully staged thing that almost makes you feel disconnected from the performer now turned actor.
Over the years, Grimes has gone from siren wails to manic pixie fairy to anime dream girl to robot ai destroyer of worlds. Every part of me feels that the ai destroyer of worlds sound is 100% her sound she should be running with.
I feel like this 6.5 mins of the show, along with her debuting these new visuals, was the best part of her whole performance. As much as Oblivion made me feel nostalgic, and sad 🥲, this part was just all around fun and you can see the audience start to finally loosen up and feel it too.
My hands down without a doubt fav song of hers is Medieval Warfare, an insanely underrated track on the Suicide Squad album. The first comment on YouTube says “this song is better than the movie” and I couldn’t agree more. It is the embodiment of the chaotic villain arc and it feels powerful and I want more.
I need more. We need more. More space, more robot core, more nerd AI art. We love it. Redemption performance success. ❤️@daoudaleonard
