It’s currently 6:15am on this chilly Sunday morning. I got a cup of coffee in my hand. Let’s talk about this BYU/Notre Dame game. There’s a lot of controversy surrounding the game and I just wanna discuss my thoughts.
Let’s be honest. Notre Dame got fucked at the end of the game. Notre Dame should’ve had one more play at the 1 yard line. That was blatant pass interference. If you disagree, you’re either a BYU fan, a Notre Dame hater, or just straight up retarded. If you’re the director of the Big 12 officials, this entire crew should turn in their stripes and not have jobs. If you’re unable to throw a flag in that situation, then you shouldn’t be an official.
This crew fucked Notre Dame not only at the end of the game, but before halftime. The spike “fumble” was blown dead, with no clear recovery until 5 seconds after the whistle was blown. This should’ve never been a BYU recovered fumble and Notre Dame should’ve had a chance to score 3 or 6 before half.
At the end of the day, this loss is completely on Notre Dame. You can’t blame the officials. Notre Dame had zero business being in that situation to begin with. You got an interception late in the game with the lead and maybe if Mike Denbrock was more aggressive, you would’ve won the game.
Notre Dame failed here:
- Could not score before half on the goal line.
- BYU muffed punt. Only got 3 points.
- BYU calls the most retarded fake punt in their own territory, which in my opinion should be a fireable offense, despite the win. Only got 3 points. This here should have been the momentum taker.
- Got an interception late with the lead and only ran 3 lousy offensive plays.
Notre Dame has no problem competing in the big games. They’re too passive to win the big games. It all comes down to being aggressive on offense and Notre Dame will always shoot themselves in the foot. The most elite teams are able to push the ball downfield and take deep shots. CJ Carr and that Mike Denbrock offense lacks any sort of aggression downfield. A part of it is just not having a legitimate deep threat WR, like most of these great programs have.
That’s my TED Talk for the day. Like I said, you can’t blame the officials. Win the football game without having to rely on a call. BYU won and it was Notre Dame’s passive mindset that cost them the game.
NEW: The Big 12 has announced that one second should have been added back to the clock in BYU’s win over Notre Dame:
"Following the Big 12’s review of the final play of Saturday’s Notre Dame-BYU game, it was determined that time remained on the clock when the ball hit the ground and the play was incorrectly cleared by the replay officiating crew. The Conference will conduct a complete review of its end-of-game officiating process in advance of next week's games."

NEW: NBC rules analyst Terry McAulay calls out a clock error on the final play of Notre Dame vs. BYU:
"There was indeed :01 on the bug clock when the pass hit the ground. Replay should have reviewed to determine if the in-stadium clock was at :01 at that point and if so, ND would have had one more play."

@TheDegenWeekly Correct, we definitely didn’t deserved to win that game and I know I’m in denial here but that ending was so odd. No DPI and 1s on the stadium clock with no clock review or anything?
In the end, we should’ve left no doubt. Congrats Cougs.
