"Hey, Michael here from the Quorum development team. About the chancellor scene..."

We staged Vexaris’s arrival in a working farm village to make power feel personal. The palette is warm earth and worn wood, stalls, wagon ruts, low eaves, so his tall, blade-thin silhouette reads instantly as an intrusion.
Environmental details do the storytelling: tight sightlines force a slow approach through the market, crowd props give him faces to menace, and the square’s open center becomes a stage for his “you work for me now” decree.
The moment matters because it sets the contract with the player—this is oppression you can push back against. Production-wise, the scene was built with Dialogue Manager plus our in-house cutscene tools (shout-out to Kage and Lucas); after our move from RPG Maker MZ to Godot in Jan ’25, we trimmed 75–85% of the original dialogue and let blocking, timing, and camera do the heavy lifting.
The fun: finding menace in small motions.
The pain: every map art pass meant re-choreographing hits and eyelines, but it kept the scene razor sharp.
If that resonates, wishlist Call of Elyndra on Steam and follow along because we’re just getting started.

From Michael: My work billboarding in Godot
"In Call of Elyndra, we pursued a clean HD-2D look (2D sprites staged inside a fully 3D world), by obsessing over how billboarding, scale, and camera language read moment-to-moment. We started with Godot’s Sprite3D billboarding and spent a lot of time iterating on zoom/FOV to keep silhouettes crisp and faces readable across wide shots and close-ups.
The breakthrough came when we adopted a PhantomCamera add-on for precise shot control, then built our own per-shot “detail manipulation” tools: tiny, editor-side sliders for sprite depth offsets, per-sprite scale compensation, soft DOF toggles, and head-room/framing guides. These let us nudge characters into the best composition without breaking perspective or collision. For sequencing, we use DialogueManager (Nathan Hoad) not just for dialogue, but as a timeline of camera calls and staging cues—so every cutscene can push in, pan, or hold on a beat with the exact same tools we use for gameplay moments.
The result is a stable, cinematic frame where 2D characters always feel anchored in the 3D space, and the camera feels like a storyteller.”

A scene from Call of Elyndra!
If you took the adventure + combat elements from the old #legendofzelda games and mixed it with hints of farming + fishing + villager relationships from #StardewValley (and various others), you would be close to Call of Elyndra, just add a totally unique storyline and mechanics and you're there.
