Overprotected kids become unprepared adults.
Dawn Staley nailed it.🔥
You can’t shelter your child from every hard moment and then expect them to handle adversity when it counts.
Hard is the lesson.

Bridgewater was suspended from coaching his high school alma mater team in 2025 for covering food and transportation costs for his players while seeking financial aid from supporters.
The vote was 38-0.
Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune, founder of Bethune-Cookman University in Daytona Beach, purchased a beach in Volusia County, Florida, in 1943 specifically as a resort for Black patrons. Initially named Bethune-Volusia Beach, it became the only beach in the United States that Blacks were permitted to use and own. https://t.co/kfaigD3H1h wrote that this "was the first beach African Americans were allowed to use during the first half of the twentieth century." Importantly, Virginia Key Beach in Florida did allow Black swimmers in a designated area in the 40s, but they also had to leave the beach by 6 PM. They were prohibited from purchasing beachfront land, as reported by Ebony Magazine in 1948 and https://t.co/U71nxBCaua.
Bethune planned to sell oceanfront lots to Black individuals and host summer classes for the college. The nearly 800 feet of direct beachfront property would allow patrons to own beachfront land in the United States.
The Mary McLeod Bethune Beach Park is located 3.5 miles south of New Smyrna Beach and 1 mile north of the Kennedy Space Center. Bethune acquired this land because it did not connect directly to the mainland.
