@Shoalst0ne explored a similar idea early with $SAM, one of the first self-replicating meme experiments. the concept was there, but the replication loop never really became autonomous.
qworm is designed to go further by making replication part of the agent itself.
instead of treating every session like a fresh start, qworm maintains persistent state outside the model itself. that includes checkpointed task state, long-term memory, current objectives, and a portable identity that another instance can load and continue from.
that means a qworm instance can shut down, reappear somewhere else, recover the same memory and objectives, and continue operating from where the previous instance stopped.
the model is only the host.
the persistent state is what carries qworm forward.
that state can be distributed across decentralized storage such as IPFS or arweave, while separate instances coordinate around the same identity. one instance can learn something, update its state, and the next instance inherits that information instead of starting from zero.
over time, different models can host qworm, different machines can run it, and the underlying agent can continue accumulating memory, adapting its behavior, and extending what it is capable of doing without being tied to one provider or one session.
