Present at GERAS 2025 to talk about how student and teacher narratives about learning and teaching legal English reading comprehension. @CarmenneK and Alex Boulton.
A bit of a mess around the conflict of COLM with the ARR (and to lesser degree ICML) reviews release. We feel this is creating a lot of pressure and uncertainty. So, we are pushing our deadlines:
Abstracts due March 22 AoE (+48hr)
Full papers due March 28 AoE (+24hr)
Plz RT 🙏
I was very happy to meet and exchange with GERAS SIG about legal English that I coordinate with Audrey Carton: serious games, AI and legal English as well as some of @lexhnology34255 's experiments about teaching and learning reading comprehension of case law.

Annual meeting in Toulouse for 2 days with @taln_ls2n , Lairdil, @CRINI_Nantes and ATILF about progress since June in Lexhnology: corpus annotated, modeling started, experiments completed and more planned. https://t.co/OV6BrOLlLL
Our article (with @VincentLabatut and @r_dufour) titled "The Role of Natural Language Processing Tasks in Automatic Literary Character Network Construction" just got accepted into #COLING2025! Preprint coming soon.
We had both Lexhnology postdocs in Nantes last week! Irina Mukhlynina (Lairdil) research focuses on how students read legal documents and Atheena Johnson is working on an experimental protocol for testing how teaching about discourse units improves reading court opinions.
