@LisaGreenEdito2 @jem_zero Thanks for saying this. Sometimes they *might be fully aware of conventions and made the decision to query it anyway. There are obvious exceptions to debut novel length so exceeding those counts doesn’t automatically mean they don’t know. But….I suppose most don’t know lol.

@Thewriting_cats I think about the Shannara Chronicles- SPOILER - you’re in a fantasy world with elves and dwarves then realize it’s post apocalyptic earth. I like that kind of stuff but not so much what you’re describing.
