Former Washington Gov. Gary Locke offered a blunt assessment of state spending during a brief interview with The Center Square Washington at Thursday’s Economic Future Solutions Summit, hosted by the Association of Washington Business and Washington Roundtable.

“There’s no budget discipline,” Locke said.

The former Democratic governor was equally direct about the results: “I think spending is out of control in Olympia.”

Locke specifically criticized lawmakers for “taking one-time money and creating permanent programs,” a practice that leaves taxpayers responsible for continuing costs long after the temporary funding disappears.

Locke is not the first prominent Democratic former governor to publicly challenge the spending decisions being made by today’s leaders in Olympia.

Former Gov. Christine Gregoire, also a Democrat, recently offered a remarkably similar diagnosis: “I would suggest to you we don’t really have an income problem, we have a spending problem.”

When Gregoire left office in 2013, Washington’s operating budget was roughly $33 billion. Today, it is approaching $80 billion. Yet lawmakers continue to warn of shortfalls and insist they need more revenue.

Two former Democratic governors have now used slightly different words to deliver the same warning: Before Olympia asks Washington families and employers to pay even more, current leaders need to demonstrate that they can responsibly manage the record amounts they already collect.

We are now at 'no felony charges for attempted kidnapping at Pike Place Market' levels of ridiculousness, here in Washington state.

Seattle Police are unable to submit felony charges for the targeted, attempted kidnapping of a baby by an obviously disturbed person, due to WA state law not covering such an insane incident.

Mark our words-
This disturbed individual will eventually be released to the streets, and will do something like this again.

King County Prosecutor to Olympia Democrats on copper theft; 'Do your jobs so I can do mine.'

KC Prosecutor Leesa Manion told KOMO's Jeremy Harris, "I think if the legislature takes action and enacts this bill, the number of copper thefts in our community will plummet." This comes after Majority Democrats in the legislature wouldn't even give the anti-copper theft bill HB 2213 a public hearing this session.
It also comes as King County continues to be #1 in the US for copper theft, and has seen repeated Light Rail disruptions, internet outages, and even the West Seattle Bridge going dark because...

Washington state does not have any sort of law targeting the buyers of stolen copper.

No buyers = no money for drugs= no reason to steal copper wire.

Over 200 drug addicts, murderers, sex traffickers, and vagrants live in the massive Olympia homeless camp known as "The Jungle". KOMO's Jeremy Harris calls it "Shocking. Easily one of the worst homeless encampments in years."

It recently came into the public eye (again) after a missing teenager from Arizona was rescued by federal agents there. The camp may sound familiar because last year, it was the scene of human burn pits where homicide victims were incinerated.

But worst of all...
The progressive Mayor of Olympia Dontae Payne and the City Council have no intentions on taking action and clearing the camp.
