@andrewgurza2 Ableism shows up in every aspect of my life from getting employed to having friends or getting medical care. I get wanting to hide your disability, because too often people with disabilities are discriminated against and face systemic oppression
💥 SUPPORT YOUTH MOBILIZATIONS. @QYouthAssemble is planning the National March for Queer and Trans Youth Autonomy. March 31st. All 50 states and Washington DC at the Capitol. https://t.co/SeN5x214Um
@Trans_Week@GLSEN@GLSEN_Education@PFLAG@GSANetwork For those of us who can’t March due to disability or financial factors, you can support in other ways. Help protestors get safe rides, make posters, make sure your trans community is fed and loved. Do whatever you are able to stand up for Trans People.
DAY 4: #TransBrillianceisPower
Banning curricula that centers LGBTQ+ history and experiences and forcing LGBTQ+ youth out before they’re ready is violence.

@andrewgurza2 Disabled queer sexuality is so damned desirables and uniquely hot. I love the way we unlock our bodies and relate to each other’s sensations in unique ways.
@Cheeky_Blush Exactly. Being in constant pain sucks and I don’t like it. But for me the systemic oppression is the hardest part. Like if I go to the ER for a car accident I don’t get the same care as my peers. Ableism in the medical field and society is so harmful.
@Cheeky_Blush Grief with chronic illness is very real. I’ve been living with mind for 13 years and I still yearn for the things I used to do. It took so much work to let some of those go and find new joys.
@Avg_Rarity I wish there were more spaces for disabled people to connect safely in person. It can be so isolating. I can leave the house but my energy is limited (I call myself a grandpa. Hehe) and it be great if disabled ppl could do low energy activities together.
@Avg_Rarity Honestly I’ve had trouble connecting w/ ablebodied ppl. As someone with a chronic pain illness they cannot see my disability so rarely believe I’m as incapacitated as I am. They rarely understand that just making art can cause me so much pain that I cannot leave the house.
@Avg_Rarity @andrewgurza2 As someone who’s chronically I’ll with an invisible disability I love dating other disabled / neurodivergent ppl. The understanding and access intimacy provides gorgeous mutual care.
@EliErlick I love Catherine Opie’s work. I remember them telling us that they were taking pictures of their friends. That was seen as radical because of who our community is.
@RareRevolutionM Even for a new injury (like car accident) doctors will deny me care due to pre-existing disability or assume my disability is the problem without even doing imaging. #ableism in #heathcare
