MY GOD...this is so good. @ryancvet on surveillance childhood:
"The baby isnโt sleeping in the parentsโ room, but the monitor tracks oxygen, heart rate, and breathing.
"The parent isnโt at daycare, but photos arrive in their app every hour.
"The parent isnโt asking how their child slept, because the sleep score already answered.
"The child walks home alone, but their location is live-tracked.
"It looks like independence. It feels like freedom. But it isnโt.
"Imagine this moment:
โ'Did you hit your brother?'โ โ'No.'โ โ'Hold on, Iโm going to check the camera.'โ

Another example of an AI agent taking down a production database.
It's time for database branching to become not only a best practice, but a requirement for data safety.
We offer database branching at https://t.co/A60AWv5xtT. Adopt it easily without moving your production database, and create thousands of branches without multiplying costs.

Yesterday we had the first call with all the families joining us in September for the Revillage popup.
We have had 41 families apply and we have 21 families fully signed up.
We helped the majority find housing and we also secured a super cool community space for the whole month!

Today, weโre open-sourcing the core of Xata under the Apache 2.0 license.
Itโs built for agentic workloads, where databases need to be created, used, and discarded continuously:
Give every agent its own database branch, with real data
Instant database branching (copy-on-write), regardless of whether you have 50GB or 5TB of data
Pay only for compute, storage is shared with the parent
Branches hibernate when idle and wake up on the first connection (scale-to-zero)
100% vanilla Postgres (no forks, full compatibility)
You can adopt branching without moving your production database, and weโre excited to see teams run it in their own environments, build on it, and contribute back.
It's been a couple of weeks since my awesome CTO mom passed away from early-onset Alzheimer's at 67 ๐ญ I'm happy to report the good memories from the before times are starting to come back. The concerts, the large dinners with friends & family, the travels... We had so much fun!
