Bingo! Few people also understand that the RRSP is a complete tax shelter, assuming marginal tax rate stays similar over time (the math works out the same as a TFSA)

It’s better to invest in your RRSP before investing in your corporation.

- You get a deduction to contribute to your RRSP. You don’t get one with investing in a corporation.

- You pay no tax income in the RRSP while it says in the RRSP (until you withdraw). You do pay tax on income in your corporation.

- Your RRSP is creditor-protected. Your corporation is not.

- Your accountant will often charge you more if you make more investments in your corporation (because more investment accounting is required).
