The footage is from Chicago’s Marquette Park in 1976, where Black demonstrators marched against housing discrimination and segregation while angry crowds gathered around them.

No Hollywood script. No dramatic reenactment. Just Americans confronting each other over who should be allowed to live where.

And before somebody jumps into the comments with “white people came to America as slaves too”, history needs some precision.

Yes, many poor Europeans arrived under brutal systems of indentured servitude and other forms of coerced labor. But that was not the same institution as the race-based, hereditary chattel slavery imposed on generations of Africans and their descendants.

That distinction matters.

What makes this footage uncomfortable is that 1976 wasn’t ancient history. America had already landed on the moon, televisions were in living rooms, and yet people were still fighting in the streets over racial integration.

Allegedly, Iran has decided it will refuse negotiations with President Trump entirely and simply wait until he leaves office on January 20, 2029.
