この発言については、言ってること自体に理解できる部分もあるけど、公式のアスタリオン小説を書く作者として、この返し方はかなりまずいんじゃないかな

「1年前に書いた本だから、細かい創作上の判断を全部覚えていない」ということ自体は別に不思議ではないし、「その時の雰囲気に合っていた」「面白いと思った」「直前に観た作品から影響を受けた」というのも、創作なら普通にあることだと思う。WotC側から指定された部分があるのも、版権作品なら当然あり得る

ただ、今回質問者が聞いているのは「なぜこのジョークを入れたんですか？」みたいな話ではなくて、「ゲーム内ですでに描かれているアスタリオンの過去や本人の発言と、小説の内容が食い違って見えるのはなぜ？」という、公式前日譚としての整合性についての質問なんだよね

そこに「私は私が書いた本を書いた」「彼は架空のキャラクター」「嫌なら小説を無視すればいい」と返しても、なぜそういう違いが生まれたのかの説明にはなっていないと思う

特に「D&Dなんてみんな半分くらいhomebrewしてる」という部分は少し引っかかった

D&Dを自分たちの卓で遊ぶ時に、公式設定を好きに変えて楽しむことと、公式ライセンスの前日譚小説と原作ゲームの整合性について質問されることは別の話

質問者が聞いているのは「自分の卓で公式設定を無視してもいいですか？」ではなく、「なぜ新しい公式作品が既存の公式作品と食い違っているように見えるのですか？」ということなので、「嫌なら無視して」は読者側がどう受け取るかの答えにはなっても、その疑問への答えにはなっていない

質問している側も途中からかなり強い言い方になっているし、作者さんもかなり身構えて、結果的に攻撃的な返しになっているんだろうなって感じ

ただ、ゲームとの整合性を心配しているファンを安心させる返答だったかと言われると、むしろ真逆かな
