Associate Professor @EmoryRollins, #HPVvaccine expert, epidemiologist, #GlobalHealth researcher, proud alum of @UAlbanySPH and @LVC. These opinions are my own.
March 4 is Int'l HPV Awareness Day. Human papillomavirus (HPV) is linked to several types of cancer, but prevention is possible through vaccination, screening and awareness. Learn more about #HPV from Winship and @EmoryRollins cancer epidemiologist, Dr. Robert Bednarczyk.
https://t.co/MyO6WaqbxR Newest publication, with lead author (and my PhD student) Rachael Porter is live. We compared state, HHS region, and national HPV vaccine uptake (2008-2020), to identify positive and negative outliers. If you like heatmaps, you're gonna love this!
This year, it will be 55 years since Woodstock happened, back in summer of 1969.
Which means we are as far away from Woodstock as Woodstock was from the start of World War 1, in 1914.

#SoonInAJPH "Novel, granular methods to monitor vaccine uptake and associated factors within states" Novel methods to conduct sub-state analysis of vaccination coverage can be a launchpad for future more granular sub-state level vaccination coverage. @rabednarczyk
There is a brand new special issue of Health Psychology out focused on Vaccine Hesitancy and Refusal (https://t.co/VIjjA1k3QO). I was one of the special issue guest editors, and it has been an amazing experience to be part getting this critical information out there.
@kevinault Don't forget our commentary about how if you claim HPV vax doesn't prevent cancer, you'd have to argue pap smears don't prevent cancer, since they only lead to treating the precancers we have solid evidence that HPV vax prevents.

My first commencement at Rollins was such a meaningful, inspiring experience. Many thanks to our outstanding speakers @helenegayle & Sabrina Chow for their words of wisdom, & to all who volunteered, including our wonderful leadership team pictured here. Congrats graduates!
AND, HPV vaccination is routinely recommended for everyone up to age 26, and, if you're 27-45 years old you can talk with your doctor about whether HPV vaccine would be good for you, and if you get it, it should still be covered by your insurance.
Some good news: if you have a pre-teen, you can start HPV vaccine at 9 years, second (and last) dose at 10, and then at 11 get the other two adolescent vaccines (Tdap and meningococcal conjugate vaccine). This gives more time to get them all their shots in case life takes over.
@ajc So, a concert scheduled months ago (tour announced 12 Dec 2022, when the hawks had played 28/82 games) before any sense of playoff schedules, seedings, etc has to move, rather than the NBA having to work around something already setup.
Glad to see sports>>>arts 🙄
@SenatorTimScott And if it was shot down over Montana and a farmers cow got impaled by debris, you'd likely be crying about "how could they do this where people and property can get damaged"
@Jim_Jordan Conservatives: inflation is horrible, groceries are so expensive
Also conservatives: we need a large national sales tax to replace income tax, that will disproportionately hurt poorer Americans because we have no heart, grocery costs be damned
