@DaouMark@karimbitar@NicoleHajal Dear Mr. Representative of the Lebanese People,
Would you please explain to the Lebanese People: if the goal is to “disarm Hezbollah” and “restore the Lebanese state’s sovereignty,” then why include such a commitment (article 13) at all? It seems irrelevant to the stated goals.
@rmslim Iran’s integration in the region seems unthinkable because it is illogical. It requires an answer to this question: How would you characterize the status of the U.S., integrated or not, neighbor or outsider? 3/
@rmslim The neat distinction you make between Iran and its Arab neighbors is logically incomplete: American presence separate and join the two. You assume two terms, and purloin the third. 1/
@haningdr@WSJ Besides, people in Lebanon hardly discerned what was taking place around them and could not predict what awaited them around the corner as they descended into civil war in 1975. 2/.
@haningdr@WSJ It does not follow from “I lived the civil war in Lebanon” that “Lebanon is NOT teetering on another civil war.” The two claims are logically not connected. Someone could have lived … etc. and still have reason to think that Lebanon is teetering … etc. 1/
