Following NCHR’s intervention over discriminatory recruitment advert by Hyderabad Water & Sewerage Corporation, corrigendum has been issued in Daily Jang, Karachi, removing term “Non-Muslim". NCHR continues efforts to end discrimination if minorities in employment. @RabiyaJaveri
Newborns, hours old, lost to a fire in the very ward meant to protect them. I have no words adequate to this grief. What happened at PIMS is a tragedy and a disgrace. My heart is with the families, and @nchrofficial stands with them in their pursuit of truth and accountability.
Honored to speak on National Prison Reform Action Plan at conference hosted by Law & Justice Commission in partnership with @nchrofficial.
"If we forget the purpose of prison, we lose sight of the purpose of justice"
“Prisons were never meant to store the poor, the vulnerable, the mentally ill, children, or those who have not yet been found guilty.”

Trees counteract urban heat island effect, reducing temperatures thro shade and evapotranspiration. We shd be planting more trees, not chopping them down. @afiasalam@ClimateChangePK@etribune
Menstrual products are a necessity, not a luxury. Pakistan’s decision to remove taxes on female hygiene products is a welcome step that will make them more affordable & accessible for millions of women and girls. 👏
Update on the alleged honour killing case of Mst. Gullan Bharo, a 23-year-old woman reportedly killed within the jurisdiction of Police Station Jhangro, District Sukkur. NCHR continues to closely monitor the matter and is taking steps to become a party to the case.

NCHR has filed constitutional petition before Federal Constitutional Court seeking an end to manual sewer cleaning that has the deaths of numerous sanitation workers. NCHR’s inquiry report “Risk of Sanitation Work in Pakistan” (2022–2024) documents such deaths & injuries.
The recent deaths of sanitation workers in Bahawalpur underscore the urgent need for transparent accountability at every level of negligence. These preventable fatalities reflect structural inequality that pushes marginalized communities into the most dangerous forms of labour without protection or alternatives. NCHR calls for justice through timely legal and institutional action, and an end to practices that normalize lethal working conditions. @RabiyaJaveri
The horrific acid attack on Dr. Mahnoor Nasir is another reminder of the alarming rise in violence against women in Pakistan. Domestic abuse, workplace harassment, honor killings continue unabated & without accountability.
Horrified to discover this new mechanism for controlling women. Young independent women locked in so called 'Rehab Centers' for simply saying "No". https://t.co/pIhS9sGQMe
Behind closed doors, some women are deprived of their freedom and dignity. Emaan Yasin Malik, author of Caged in Care, highlights the hidden human rights violations faced by women unlawfully confined in rehabilitation centres and calls for greater awareness, accountability, and protection of their rights.
