Our next step is to apply these findings by using our design principles to co-create a program with @ESS_Seniors. Our goal is to create something that can truly support seniors in creating and maintaining social connections.

We hosted ~30 seniors in Zoom focus group sessions. 👨‍💻 We also interviewed ESS staff members to understand their unique context. We used this video🎥 to promote our recruitment. Thank you to @rb33canada for this great idea!

In partnership with @ESS_Seniors, we aimed to understand what social connectedness means to seniors, how they experience social connectedness, and how this can be translated to community programming.

Community day programs for seniors are an opportunity to facilitate social connectedness 👬 When organizations abruptly shifted to remote delivery methods due to COVID-19🦠 many experienced a decline📉 in participation and engagement.

We used the focus group data to create design principles that community organizations can use to develop programming that facilitates social connectedness. After many rounds of edits and brainstorming sessions with participants, we are very proud of how far these have come!
