@oskrbr90 @AlvaaannnnLee Thanks Oscar! In short, while refractive index is a material property, it technically describes how a material interacts with EMR of a specified wavelength. So refractive index not only changes with material, but also the wavelength of EMR being used!
@andresmerino7@AlvaaannnnLee Thanks Andrés! In terms of application, we demonstrated that IR is optimally reflected by materials which appear silver to our eyes. With this, we propose that materials which have silver colours may have better heat (IR) conserving properties (grey sweater storing body heat).
@MiguelBaritto@AlvaaannnnLee Hi Miguel! The main idea we used is that materials have properties (refractive index) that interact with EMR according to optical physics (ie attenuation). Based on these principles, materials that absorb almost all incident visible light will appear 'black' to us as humans!
