Chepngetich split 64:16-65:41 and OBLITERATED the women’s world record by an astonishing 1 minute, 56 seconds to become the first woman in history under 2:10.

Kenya's Ruth Chepngetich splits 1:00:51 for 20K at the Choicago Marathon!

The 20K world record was 1:01:25 by Joyciline Kepkosgei.

She is on pace for 2:08:31.

At the halfway point, she splits 1:04:16. Chepngetich's PR for the half marathon is 1:04:02.

This would be the fifth-fastest half marathon performance by a woman if the race was over. She has another half to go.

🚨2026 BOSTON MARATHON QUALIFYING STANDARDS GET FASTER🚨

@baa has released updated qualifying standards for the 2026 @bostonmarathon. All qualifying times have gotten 5 minutes faster, with the fastest mark being 2:55:00 for men 18-34.

Boston frequently receives more qualified applications than entry spaces, which can result in a functional cutoff faster than the BQ. In 2024, the cutoff was 5:29 faster across all age groups.

BAA received 36,406 qualifier entry applications for the 2025 race, an all-time record. The organization has not yet released the official cutoff for this year’s race.

The 2026 Boston qualifying window opened on September 1, 2024 for the April 20, 2026 race.

@CitiusMag has learned 16-year-old- U.S. high school 400m record holder Quincy Wilson @QuincyWilson5 will lead off for Team USA in the prelim of the 4x400m relay on Friday.

He posted on his Instagram: “Tune in Friday morning @ 5:05 am est #teamusa”

He will make history as the youngest male member of Team USA’s track and field team in Olympic history.
