Reminder: our bodies deserve care (movement, food, rest, hygiene, etc.) even if we do not like them. We don't have to be full of #selflove to show our bodies respect. Body positivity is great but it is not a requirement for body respect.
A child is 242 times more likely to have an eating disorder than they are to have type 2 diabetes.
Yet the vast majority of our public health education is spent warning parents (and kids) about “childhood obesity”.
Why? Fatphobia (not health).
I love how exercise can benefit our bodies and minds - that's way more important to me than anything aesthetic. Interesting research to take a look at! https://t.co/LNNNdofgpb
People are drawn to fitness - I am interested in how we can help them create a positive and empowering relationship with their fitness goals so this becomes an uplifting part of their life ongoing. The more fitpros talking body liberation, the better. https://t.co/7EFi1Z4O7k
Body liberation is radical love and acceptance, and anything radical will bring up big feelings. Radical things threaten the world as it is, and promise the world as it could be. Lean into the discomfort - on the other side is freedom for all bodies. Including yours.
Really proud to see the impact the company I work for has had in this space. In a world full of bad news, this is some good news to share. Water is a human right and something we all need to keep pushing for - access everywhere! https://t.co/FNzcHxG8Ak
I've been fine tuning my morning routine in response to the stress of the last year and trying to balance depression, and I really like the ideas presented here. I write to do lists and write gratitude, and I think I will start adding what I let go of. https://t.co/eftyGycUXI
Some great tips on how to make livestreaming fitness really great! I'm planning to do more of this in 2021 and am excited to see more accessible ways to move our bodies. https://t.co/74nGeMArqR
Our relationship to health is best when it encompasses all of us. If the food you eat or movement you do causes emotional distress (guilt, shame, resentment) or mental issues (brain fog, fatigue) or disrupts social interaction (avoid gatherings with food) - is it really healthy?
Super excited to announce the PHIT Society Evolve Series! Monthly workshops to dig into topics around fitness and body liberation. This month focuses on goal setting with critical awareness to set fitness and health related goals rooted in body liberation. https://t.co/3pnoz2J9fw
Leadership is so interesting and I find different approaches than the old school or more traditional leadership to be much more empowering and powerful. Asking questions and really getting to know the team you lead is crucial. https://t.co/vrquoxFReJ
Really interesting to see how different intersections of identity and background created different experiences. It's critical we directly face the issues in our society and how we can change what we do to take care of the most vulnerable. https://t.co/EwYZpWAVOK
I decided to get back to writing this year so I put down some thoughts around New Year's Resolutions. I hope adding my voice to the discussion of diet culture and fatphobia helps create necessary change in my industry and our world.

Seeing changes in the industry is always interesting and I hope the move to digital makes fitness more accessible to all people. https://t.co/BHHuE7s1Zh
