.@KYSecState writes that the Kentucky Constitution requires a law license to serve as a judge but doesn’t require a law license to be a candidate.

.@KYSecState filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuit requesting Ben Dusing’s name be taken off the ballot for Kenton County family court judge. In the motion, he says Dusing is temporarily suspended and it’s possible his license would be reinstated before taking office if elected.

He also said he was billed for time Dusing’s girlfriend, Katy Lawrence, worked on the case, when he was previously told he wouldn’t be charged for her time and had objected to her representation originally. Lawrence is also named as a defendant in the lawsuit.

A former client has filed a lawsuit against NKY attorney Ben Dusing. Dusing represented Michael Hild in a federal securities case in New York. Hild’s case was mentioned in the Kentucky Supreme Court’s decision to temporarily suspend Dusing's license last month. @Enquirer

Hild also accuses Dusing of lying to him, saying that if Hild chose him as his attorney, Dusing would effectively close his law firm and focus solely on his case. Hild says Dusing’s ongoing personal cases in family court were conflicts of interest that he wasn’t aware of.

@Enquirer Dusing is collecting sheets to take with him to give to the refugees.“I have been very much moved by the spirit and the resiliency of the Ukrainian people and what they’re standing up for," Dusing said. "I have found it heartbreaking the nature of the war being waged.”

NKY attorney Ben Dusing announced yesterday he’s planning a trip to the Poland/Ukraine border to help refugees there. Dusing said he’ll help in whatever way is needed and plans to stay in Poland about a week at first and then return later. @Enquirer
