Anxiety manifests itself in strange ways. Like when I’m in the 30-40min security line behind a random family I have never met and I am nervous for them to catch their flight that begins boarding in 40 minutes but they don’t seem bothered at all. It’s so fun.

My mom lost her battle against cancer 16 years ago and is the reason I pursue medicine. I got to spend the morning with a lactation consultant, helping new mom’s connect with their babies and I can’t think of a better way to honor my mom on this anniversary.

I was leaving a CVS and a woman asked me to help her pay for her 7-year-old daughter’s asthma medicines, including an albuterol inhaler. She needed $43, the most money that a stranger has ever asked me for. But I know our health system. I said yes.

Why is the follow-up question to saying I work at the children’s hospital, are you a nurse?

Isn’t it just as easy to ask what I do?

I know it’s surprising, but there are multiple roles women take in healthcare. We are not just nurses.

P.S. the trick is to use the opposite hand as the nostril to get the meds in the right place as opposed to sitting in your nose

I love when I hear nurses explain to patients tips and tricks for administering meds (like nasal sprays) and I secretly take notes because I realize I’ve been doing it wrong my whole life.
