I spent the first 15 years of my career obsessing about tech. Then I figured out that it is people that really matter. Tech doesn’t build itself. Figure out what someone who improves people around them looks like. Promote and support them.
@PGelsinger@VMware@intel Congratulations and thank you for your leadership at VMware, Pat! You have left an impression on hearts and minds. You will be missed, but we will be cheering you on...as you achieve great things at Intel. It was an honor to work with you.
As a leader it isn’t your job to be the smartest person in the room. Your job is to get the smartest person to be in the room with you. And to make space so their voice is heard, and acted on. No matter who they are, or what their journey has been.
Great leaders need to be able to innovate in themselves, in their organizations and in every area of their business – not just in their R&D!

Innovation isn’t always easy, but @VMware’s @domdelfino explains why companies need to continually innovate and push the envelope. https://t.co/6tFS95qOpy
Your personality matters, but your ability to adapt matters more. The most effective leaders aren't extraverts or introverts. They're ambiverts: people who strike a balance of talking and listening.
