On this day in 1940, Russian-born anarchist, political activist, writer, and feminist, Emma Goldman, passed away in Toronto, Ontario. Goldman's activism was deeply influenced by the 1886 Haymarket affair in Chicago, which radicalized her and led her to embrace anarchism.
