It's not ethical because the trial isn't the one Cass said we needed, and it can't answer any meaningful research question.

It takes 226 children with gender incongruence and gives them all puberty blockers, immediately or after one year.

So after two years they'll have 226 children with gender incongruence and endocrine abnormalities.

Pro-ana (pro-anorexia) groups promote anorexia as an identity to be encouraged and celebrated, rather than as the serious, life-threatening mental disorder that it is.

Members support each other, offer weight-loss tips, and often compete for who is the most emaciated.

These communities still exist, although they are less popular these days, and many have morphed into “healthy eating” groups.

One reason for the plummeting popularity is anorexia has been replaced by another mental illness being celebrated as a healthy identity: Trans.

Online trans forums are just as dangerous as pro-ana sites. Members glorify medical body modification, affirm each others’ identities and encourage medicalization, quash doubts, and amplify the false belief that trans is innate and healthy.

And to make matters worse, celebration of this mental disorder isn’t restricted to online niche subcultures. It’s mainstream, and for many years was even mandatory.

The Jason Arday story would make a wonderful drama. From learning to read at the age of 18 to a Cambridge professorship at 37. Combined with amazing athletic feats. And then the story starts to unravel...

The plagiarism allegations are serious. But as a runner, the part that blows my mind is that Arday claimed to have run 600 miles in 6 days. If true, that would make him an international elite athlete.

Yet UK athletics website Power of Ten doesn't register any times at all for Arday, not even a parkrun.

Cambridge could argue that it doesn't matter if one of their academics has a rich fantasy life. And that would be fair as long as he was appointed on his merits and not for his inspirational/implausible life story.

The High Court has ruled against Sex Matters in our case against the National Police Chiefs’ Council and British Transport Police over their “consensual” searching policies.

Our case is simply that such a policy is unlawful: a police officer has no power to conduct a strip search other than in accordance with PACE.

We will be seeking permission to appeal this judgment, which we believe is wrong in law.
