one thing that should be obvious whenever i talk about politics in art is that i in no way think you should only enjoy art that agrees with you. a lot of my favourite books are written by people whose politics i don't share
A big part of maturing as a reader for me was learning how to read things less for what they say and more for what they explore. Examining a work of art as though it's an essay with a thesis bears limited fruit; sometimes it's just about articulating an elusive experience.
1. Uranium is not “weapons-grade” until it is enriched to 90%.
2. The number one reason to enrich to 60% is for the use in radiopharmaceuticals. Iran is one of the largest radiopharmaceutical producers in the world.
I’m so sick of these media shills not calling this crap out.
Zohran Mamdani? Oh please, he's a silver spoon kid. His family is sitting on millions from [checks notes] the 1991 indie romance Mississippi Masala. Yep, it's all Masala money. He'll probably mandate screenings. You want to let Big MM's influence into Gracie Mansion? No thanks.
Feels relevant—the use of atomic bombs being pivotal in finally ending WW2 is a myth, it was already effectively over. Hiroshima & Nagasaki were markedly revenge for Pearl Harbor, but as the world realized how horrific & inordinate the act was, history was revised to justify it
Today is Mohammed’s funeral; he was murdered by an Israeli drone strike yesterday. This man was nothing but a shining example of humanity, doing his part to support the environment.
Spoke to my mom minutes ago. They’re leaving Tehran. Everyone is trying to leave Tehran. Whether they will be able to is a different question. The roads are packed to the point of literal non-movement.
@LilacLily01@LiquidGoth I mean on one hand as a trans woman estrogen is one of those "I'd like to have it but I could die happy without it" things but also without revealing too much I had a friend almost do something very drastic because they convinced themselves they'd never be able to
monogamists are so funny what do you mean you believe you’re predestined to meet the one perfect person fated to be your soulmate but you also think you can just fumble that person and then you’ll never find love again
@LiquidGoth and not "everyone having a smartphone will be materially untenable in a society without coercive mining labor, factory labor, etc etc" and so people think trans women will have to give up their HRT in a penance ritual to maintain The Communist Utopia
@LiquidGoth I do think the one negative thing that comes out of "what will you have to give up in a post-capitalism society" is that people see "You will have to make sacrifices to maintain a non-exploitative model of production" as a moral thing (i.e giving up Vices to be a Good Society)
