Thank you @WACCBIP_UG for the opportunity to share our contribution to efforts to stimulate local manufacturing of reagents for nucleic acid testing. Thanks to funding from @gatesfoundation through the #Expandia project, @ICGEB_BG at @ICGEB, Trieste, Italy.
Dr. Reuben Ayivor-Djanie shares plenary on building low-cost, locally adaptable molecular diagnostics for Africa.
His team developed a frugal method to produce and stabilize enzymes for RT-LAMP tests — keeping them functional in regular fridges and enabling shipping across the continent.
Now adopted in labs in Senegal, Burkina Faso, and Nairobi, his work is a shining example of Africa-to-Africa science — practical, scalable, and driven by local needs.

The greater the vision, the more the sidetracks.... the bigger the opportunity, the larger the trap....and we fall into the trap not because we do not know the enemy but also because whilst focusing on the enemy, we forget that to succeed, the enemy often uses our friends. Yea
Data on the percentage of budget spent on R&D reveal that countries that spend very little on research are the same countries with high external debt....
My interpretation of this is pretty basic....those who do not implement new ideas will borrow to survive on archaic ideas. Yea
