It’s not MY idea it’s straight from Jesus. Old Testament the sacrifices were ritual, now we sacrifice ourselves.

Since you like the church historical teachings, go look at how Augustine and Origen describe worship. No historical Christian agrees with you.

The condensed New Testament understanding looks like so:

John 4:23-24 “worship in spirit and truth”
Romans 12:1 “true worship is sacrifice”

All things done for God constitutes worship.

@Cernovich This is a pretty uncharitable view of the way Protestants study scripture. Blindly following anyone but Jesus gives room for human sin and error.

Indulgences were a great example of a church needing theological correction.
