Going to Effective Altruism Global London to spread the word about @RADVACproject's new initiatives. I'm also looking for funding and feedback on @MetascienceObs. If you want to chat, please reach out!
Is there an association between human herpesviruses (HHVs) reactivation and Long COVID? We analyzed HHV DNA shedding in saliva and found that HHV-6 correlates with Long COVID severity. Claire Laxton, @S_Tabachnikova, Lily Cooke, Kexin Wang et al.

Since 2022 the Japanese have had access to Xocova, a once-daily SARS-CoV-2 antiviral that is superior to Paxlovid. It is even approved for prophylactic use in Japan. A critical upcoming FDA decision will determine the fate of this drug in the US. A lot hangs in the balance! 🧵⬇️
An experimental automated biolab in SF was just revealed ! Looks cool! Cloud labs like these will lower the barrier to doing potentially dangerous biology research, unless proper safeguards are designed & implemented. Just another reason @RADVACproject sees #biorisk increasing..
Agentic AI for drug discovery is here! 🚀🧪🧑🔬
The @RADVACproject is interested in any tech that can accelerate the design of peptide-based vaccines. I just applied for early access. The focus here is antibodies & peptides, but I'm sure agents for small molecules are coming soon..
If this antiviral drug repurposing effort sounds interesting to you, please join us on Discord / reach out so we can keep in touch and maybe work together: https://t.co/CPc8fr4Dyd
As many of you know, the RaDVaC core team has been working both on articulating the biosecurity risks imposed by AI, and on AI's potential to increase biosecurity (tools weighted in a biosecurity-positive direction, rather than those capable of dual use and asymm. high risk).
...as therapeutics against a given virus, based on knowable properties of that virus, like its genome, proteome, corresponding host immunone and pathology.
Not all vaccines are created equal
Some (like MMRV) actually do stop transmission - and do so for decades/life
Other vaccines have weak if any protection against transmission and are shorter lived
It has much more to do with the virus and how it replicates than the vaccine..
Are you curious/fascinated/worried/freaking out about the long-term impact of artificial superintelligence on the future and survival of the human species? You are not alone.

Our nasal booster in the "Prime & Spike" vaccine works without adjuvants (which are needed to induce adaptive immunity but also cause inflammation). @Kwon_Dongil@tianyangmao@BenIsraelow et al. asked how this is possible. (1/)
