The Ministry of Defense of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has announced that the national tankers 'Mombasa' and 'Bahia' were struck by two Iranian cruise missiles while transiting the southern passage of the Strait of Hormuz in Omani territorial waters.

According to the Ministry, one Indian crew member aboard the Mombasa was killed and eight others were injured, including four with serious injuries. The casualties include six Indian nationals and two Ukrainians. Both vessels sustained damage and onboard fires, which have since been extinguished.

The government condemned the attack as a serious violation of international law, warning that it reserves the right to respond and stating its armed forces are on high alert as tensions continue to escalate in and around the Strait of Hormuz.
