Remembering Kriss Donald on what would have been his 36th birthday.

Kriss was taken off the streets of Glasgow by a gang of Pakistanis, driven around for hours, being attacked, stabbed, before being set on fire, for simply being white, as the pack of savages hunted.

This was the first racially motivated murder Scotland had ever seen, yet many don't even know his name.

The dog in the picture is named Hachiko.
In 1923, the Japanese citizen (Isabura) found the dog (Hachiko) in a small box inside one of the train cars that he used to take daily to work... and the dog was still a small puppy.. He took it and raised it in his house.. The days pass and Hachiko grows. Isabura used to go to work every day by train, and Hachiko used to drive him to the station and wait at the station until his return about 10 hours later!
One day in the year 1925 (Isabora) had a heart attack at work and died as a result immediately and did not return home! Hachiko waited for his owner at the station platform for 10 full years, until he died too!
A statue of him was designed at the entrance to Shibui Station in Japan, and it is still present.
Loyalty is a word heavier than mountains and longer than ropes.. Its meanings are many: sacrifice, sacrifice, sincerity, giving and loyalty..

A man was flying from Seattle to San Francisco. The plane had a layover in Sacramento. The flight attendant explained that there would be a delay, and if the passengers wanted to get off the aircraft, the plane would re-board in one hour.
Everybody got off the plane except one gentleman who was blind.
Another man had noticed him as he walked by and could tell the gentleman was blind because his Seeing Eye dog lay quietly underneath the seats in front of him throughout the
entire flight. He could also tell he had flown this very flight before because the pilot approached him, and calling him by name, said, "Keith, we're in Sacramento for an hour, would you like to get off and stretch your legs? "
The blind man replied, "No thanks, but maybe my dog would like to stretch his legs."
Picture this:
All the people in the gate area came to a complete standstill when they looked up and saw the pilot walk off the plane with a Seeing Eye dog! The pilot was even wearing sunglasses. People scattered. They not only tried to change planes, but they were trying to change airlines!

Imagine starting with a block of stone and ending up with this.

The Pietà is widely considered one of the finest and most emotive works of art ever produced, cut from a single block of marble by a 24-year-old.

It's a remarkable dichotomy: an impossible achievement in artistic beauty that expresses the ultimate tragedy - the loss of a grieving parent.

The young Michelangelo was commissioned by a French cardinal to produce “the most beautiful work of marble in Rome, one that no living artist could better.” It was to capture the moment the Virgin Mary held Jesus in her arms after he was taken down from the cross.

Accepting the challenge, the relatively unknown 23-year-old got to work on a block of Carrara marble in 1498. Less than 2 years later, the work was installed at the cardinal's grave on the very same day he died.

When revealed, it was met with awe and skepticism. As Michelangelo was not yet the renowned artist he became, many questioned the work and attributed it to other masters. According to some accounts, this prompted Michelangelo to carve his name into the sash across Mary's chest - the Pietà is the only piece he ever signed.

Anyone who sees it is immediately aware that it's some of the finest stonework possible for human hands to create. But it's also unique for other reasons, departing radically from earlier depictions of the subject.

Michelangelo took creative liberties to capture the scene as powerfully as he did. Mary's body and clothing are unusually large relative to Jesus, allowing Mary to fully cradle her son, who appears 'childlike' in her embrace.

Mary also appears implausibly youthful compared to Jesus. Michelangelo himself explained: “Do you not know that chaste women stay fresh much more than those who are not chaste? How much more in the case of the Virgin, who had never experienced the least lascivious desire that might change her body?”

The Pietà balanced the ideals of classical beauty and Naturalism in a unique way. The idealized forms of the figures and Mary's serene, youthful appearance are combined with astonishing anatomical detail and precision, alongside the genuine grief evident on Mary's face.

The piece is now housed in a setting of appropriate grandeur - it lives at St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican, where it has been for over 500 years.
