as a visibly muslim woman, it doesn’t feel right to distance myself from current conversations on islamophobia, but at the same time, i hate the pressure of feeling like i need to vocalize my hurt and pain for others to see. today is a hard day, and hope seems hard to come by 💔
@k_monroewrites i can’t wait to get it 🥰 congratulations again, i am BEYOND thrilled for you 💕 i remember waiting for updates every few weeks, so excited to see it in paperback!!
so while i’m really enjoying the weather we’ve been having these days… is no one else concerned about how unseasonably hot it has been for the last few weeks 😳
not to read too much into that whole “share your pet plant a tree” thing, but it doesn’t sit right with me that so many people shared it without considering who would be responsible for planting those trees. who is the “we” in this situation, how are they being held accountable?
be resolved by sharing on social media. it requires bold action with true purpose. imagine if the same number of people that shared this viral post would write to their MPs to advocate for policy that addresses the climate crisis? or boycott business like nestle and amazon?
does justin trudeau realize that he could have introduced all the policies he’s promising in this campaign without calling an election? what is the freaking purpose?
As a former refugee, I urge y'all to rethink sharing images of people in their most difficult moments. Yes, we need to document and share stories, but there is a big difference between raising awareness and the commodification of human suffering.
