A routine patrol by Vision Tactical members quickly turned into a pursuit after a suspicious vehicle was identified in Houghton JHB by partners.

The vehicle was tracked onto the freeway, where the suspect was successfully apprehended.

A search of the vehicle resulted in the recovery of multiple licence plates and a suspected military-grade signal jammer.

The suspect has been handed over to SAPS for further investigation.

MAJOR DEVELOPMENT:

A suspended EMPD official has been arrested.

Two more suspects are still at large. IPID has been looking for them the entire entire day.

This is in relation to the precious stone (valued at about 14 million) theft matter. Investigations have been ongoing since 2023.

Witness K testified at the Madlanga Commission that after selling the stones for R110,000, the cash was split equally among five individuals at a car wash. She kept R22,000 for herself and handed over the remaining R88,000 to be shared.

OPERATION SUCCESS:

Breakthroughs were made by IPID investigators Thulani Magagula and Nomsa Masuku, both of whom appeared before the Madlanga Commission.

The Commission Recommended Task Team. The Tactical Response Team (TRT) and the Gauteng track team were also involved.
