i’m wondering if the physical decay on the characters is symbolic of idols undergoing plastic surgery and pumping their bodies full of toxins just to fit beauty standards. especially because mizi is more decayed.
This scene in particular stands out to me. When idols smoke or drink, it's treated as scandalous and it's something that 'defiles' their image. Mizi smoking should in a casual setting with her girlfriend should be no issue, but Sua gets upset, because it is also ruining her--
When Sua removes Mizi's glasses as children, it's an act of comfort, but also one of control and protection. Rather than allowing Mizi to perceive the world in its brutality, Sua mediates reality for her. Once Mizi enters the idol industry, however, that illusion becomes
mizis outfit being so revealing, her seemingly unable to do anything but smile in zombie form, and the fact that we literally cannot make eye contact with her is a very in your face depiction of the objectification of female idols (also seen in the buildup of her career)
I just released an all-in-one tool that lets you extract textures from any perspective, turn them into seamless textures, and use them on your 3D models.
