This account gives Ragbag Mending a home on twitter, and tweets things I've mended, events I'm doing and stuff you can be involved with. If you want to chat more generally, you'll find me @CCullingworth, so wander over and say hello.
A final nudge for this. If you'd like to join us this Saturday, you need to book before lunch time on Wednesday.
Mending your clothes is incredibly satisfying. Come and have a go while we share some conversation about what we mend, why we mend, and where God is in all of that.

Come and join me for some mending and conversation. Learn some patching and darning skills, while we chat about life, God, our favourite clothes, and share our stories.

No previous experience necessary! I'll provide everything you need to have a go, but if you've got a piece of clothing you love that needs some attention, you're very welcome to bring it along and I'll see if I can get you started mending it.
More details at the link, above.
Ugly Monsters Team Photo - from a workshop at a local community drop in.
I love running this workshop - such a buzz of creativity and people egging each other to greater silliness. Even our two complete beginners at hand sewing managed a monster they were really chuffed with.
I get so sentimental and tearful at parades and banners and stuff, even when I'm just watching, so it was a miracle I didn't flood the whole town, as we processed along with the banner we made!
An amazing weekend! I spent a couple of weeks with the Space4 craft group, making this banner. All the smaller items represent the group members, and what we do together, including the miles and miles of bunting we made for the Queens Jubilee!
Also, excellent practice for piecing curves! A couple are a bit rough, but you see that long, left-leaning one up the middle? Really proud of that one 😁
When I explain why I do visible mending to people, 90% of them say "oh, like that Japanese thing with the broken pottery and the gold!".
Yup, exactly like that.
So, a Kintsugi inspired tiny quilt.
I'm all about the visible mending, but there's something pleasing about a simple, workmanlike mend that keeps a day to day garment in wearable condition for someone.
Retiring these jeans to use them as a mending sampler for workshops instead. They're getting so fragile they need more time mending them than I get wearing them - and even I can (reluctantly) see, that's getting a bit ridiculous.

I'm chuffed to be providing a Creative Mending workshop at the St John's College Eco-Fest. Open to anyone, not just students, so if you're in the Durham area on the 10th June, come along. Stalls, food, music, speakers and workshops.

I'm doing the day again with @ReligiousRC in North Shields, on the 18th June, if you think it looks like your sort of thing. The surroundings won't be quite so gorgeous, but I hope the company and the conversation will be just as good.
Labyrinth Day in full flow! 10 brave souls came and made labyrinths with me for the day, in a beautiful farmhouse on the edge of Bradford. We chatted, sewed, drew, prayed and enjoyed the beautiful surroundings, accompanied by home made cake, strawberries and many cups of tea.
