overall, i truly love silent voice and i hope people look past the stereotypical thought of it being a romance movie between a bully and a victim of said bullying.

because it is not that, and it definitely holds much more depth to its story!

for me personally the movie and the manga are separate materials! and it’s not at all in a bad way! both deserve to be praised

a silent voice isn’t a romance, it’s a story about forgiveness, overcoming, and mental health—undermining it to just be a love story where the bully gets the girl, is an insult to it,, bc it’s truly a beautiful story that realistically depicts mental health

one thing that i could think of that was slightly lacking for the movie was emphasis on shoko’s self hatred towards her disability, though it is shown roughly through visual representation in the movie’s second half we only get an assumption of how badly it has affected her.
