You must have heard a zillion times that looks can be deceptive. We from the valley of Kashmir who were wiped out of our homes in 1990 have lived that in first person. In this photo, I am sitting comfortably close to my neighbour who soon within a few years after this moment crossed to Pakistan for training and went on to become a terro₹ist. At times I wonder had we stayed beyond 19th Jan 1990 would he have spared us?

He kicked the bucket within a few years is what we got to know from his own parents who cried endlessly on the phone when talking to us. Who would have imagined that such a cute and happy innocent face would harbour so much hatred against people of a faith different than his that he would pick the g*n and not hesitate to ki££ them. This is what radical/wahabi Islam did to those whose forefathers too were Hindus.

Today we mark 35 years of our exodus. I have mostly grown in Delhi far away from my homeland. I still yearn to return to myen meaj Kasheer.
