I am feeling deeply depressed today. The brutal annihilation of the entire Ganesh Chakraborty family is horrifying & yet, so far, not a single liberal, human-rights activist, or leftist has raised their voice in support of Hindus in Bangladesh.

His daughter was due to be married in just a few days. She was allegedly brutally raped, her eyes were gouged out, and acid was poured on her face. The sheer hatred and brutality directed against Hindus is deeply disturbing.

His wife too was raped and subjected to horrific torture. His 12-year-old son was forcibly circumcised. Ganesh himself was brutally killed.

Their only “crime” was that they were Hindus.

What makes this horror even more disturbing is the alleged treatment of the bodies after the killings—acid was reportedly poured over their faces before the bodies were dumped at the foot of the stairs.

The complete destruction of an entire Hindu family cannot simply be dismissed as an ordinary crime. If these reports are established, this would be a horrifying indictment of law and order, minority protection, and the failure of society to protect innocent human beings from communal violence.

Where are the voices that so loudly speak about human rights when the victims are Hindu?

Human rights cannot be selective. Outrage cannot depend on the religion of the victim. If you remain silent when an entire family is allegedly brutalised and killed because they are Hindu, that silence is not neutrality—it is hypocrisy.

मुर्दा है वो, जो घर की बहन-बेटियों पर बात आ जाए तो भी चुपचाप सहता रहे। हमारी परंपरा ने हमें सिखाया है कि अगर कोई दुर्योधन किसी द्रौपदी को अपने जंघे पर बिठाने की बात करे तो तुम उसकी जंघा चीर डालो। अगर कोई रावण किसी सीता को हर ले जाए तो समंदर पार करके उसकी नाभि में तीर मारो।

जब बात घर की बहन-बेटी पर आ जाए तो प्रतिकार करना चाहिए, संविधान और क़ानून से भी ऊपर आता है स्वाभिमान। जिसका स्वाभिमान मर गया, उसके लिए क्या करेगा क़ानून और क्या करेगा संविधान। अजीत भारती की बहन पर टिप्पणी हुई। उन्होंने टिप्पणी करने वाले को उसी की भाषा में जवाब दिया। सामान्य वर्ग की बहन-बेटियों को भोग की विषय-वस्तु समझकर माँगने वालों को उसकी औक़ात दिखाई। यही होना चाहिए।

स्वाभिमान, अहंकार नहीं है। "मैं ही सर्वश्रेष्ठ हूँ" - ये अहंकार है। "मेरी बहन-बेटियों का सम्मान मेरे लिए सर्वोपरि है" - ये स्वाभिमान है। "मेरी बहन-बेटियों पर टिप्पणी करने वाले के मुँह पर थूक दूँगा" - ये उस स्वाभिमान का प्राकट्य है। अगर उस प्राकट्य की परिणति एकतरफ़ा SC/ST एक्ट और फिर जेल है तो वही सही।

जहाँ तक चंद्रशेखर 'रावण' की बात है, उसने वाल्मीकि समाज की लड़की रोहिणी घावरी को धोखा दिया है। बेचारी कई महीनों से आवाज़ उठा रही है न्याय के लिए, कोई नहीं सुन रहा। कोई एक्ट नहीं लग रहा। कारण - चंद्रशेखर 'रावण' के पास वोट बैंक है, इसीलिए वह अधिक दलित है। रोहिणी घावरी सफाईकर्मी की बेटी है, इसीलिए उसका दलित वाला सर्टिफिकेट आधी साइज का ही है।

बहन-बेटी भी खैरात में चाहते हैं, कम अंक लाकर भी एडमिशन-नौकरी पाने से मन नहीं भर रहा।
